Alice Chapple

Alice Chapple is an economist and a specialist in impact investment and impact assessment. She established Impact Value in October 2012. She has spent her career working to find ways in which companies and investors can have a meaningful impact beyond financial returns.

In recent months, Alice has worked with funds to design impact assessment frameworks for investments in ‘inclusive’ or pro-poor businesses; with commercial companies to evaluate their impact in developing countries; with foundations to assess the impact of their portfolios; and with NGOs to explore the structural barriers that exist to prevent capital flowing to areas that create the most positive social and environmental impacts.

Before establishing Impact Value, Alice worked as Director of Sustainable Financial Markets at Forum for the Future. She worked on projects exploring the scope for innovative financial instruments, more effective valuation techniques, better risk assessment, and longer-term investment strategies.
Prior to Forum for the Future, she worked for many years at UK development finance institution CDC as financial analyst, fund manager and social and environmental advisor. Alice is also a Director of a not-for-profit organisation established to align capital markets with efforts to tackle climate change. The first project is the Carbon Tracker Initiative. Alice has an MA in Economics from Cambridge University and is a chartered accountant.
