Roger is a sustainability professional and scientist, with over 25 years experience of leadership in food system R&D.
He is responsible for leading sustainability at Plant & Food Research, a New Zealand government-owned Crown Research Institute working for the horticulture, arable and seafood sectors. He also has an advisory role in sustainability at AgResearch, the Crown Research Institute focussed on New Zealand’s pastoral industry. Both organisations have adopted the Future-Fit Business Benchmark to guide their progress towards greater sustainability.
Roger moved from the UK to New Zealand in 2012 to join the Foundation for Arable Research as Director of Research Development. Prior to that, he held senior science management positions in the UK’s arable and horticultural sectors.
Roger is a member of the Sustainability Sub-Board of NZTech and a Director of Oxford Community Health Charity, the primary healthcare provider in his adopted hometown of Oxford, New Zealand.
He is an Accredited Future-Fit Advisor and a Certified Integrated Reporting Practitioner. He has a PhD in plant pathology.
