Introducing the Changemaker Community Handbook

A warm welcome to our new Changemakers! We’ve seen that there have been a lot of recent joiners over the past year and to support our growing Changemaker Community, we’ve created an introductory handbook that will now feature at the top of the homepage to provide a short welcome guide. This handbook will help provide new and existing members with an overview on how to navigate the platform and where to go to find key information and resources. The handbook will include how to access Future-Fit tools, including the Risk Profiler and Future-Fit Progress Calculator, as well as provide links to webinar recordings, case studies, and company reports showcasing how different businesses are applying the Future-Fit Business Benchmark. If you’re preparing for the Accredited Advisor Proficiency Test or exploring systems thinking, the handbook points you to valuable resources to get started. We’ll keep this handbook pinned at the top of the homepage, making it easy to revisit whenever you need guidance. Whether you’re new or looking to maximise your impact, this is your go-to resource for staying informed and engaged in the community.

Johnstons of Elgin webinar overview

In our webinar this January, we gained insight from Iain Findlay at Johnstons of Elgin on how he successfully adapted the Future-Fit Business Benchmark as a strategic framework to support the company’s transition from a linear to a circular business model. He explained how the decision to adopt the Future-Fit Business Benchmark was made easy for the business by the fact that it is rooted in the credible and scientific foundations of the Natural Step. He also provided a run through of how he adapted and implemented different Future-Fit tools, such as the Risk Profiler and CSRD Risk Profiler, to help pinpoint areas requiring further development. This enabled Johnstons of Elgin to track progress against the 23 Break-Even Goals and identify targeted action within the business, while also meeting the rigorous B Corp certification requirements. This was a great opportunity to learn about the materiality of the Future-Fit Business Benchmark as a practical tool for identifying knowledge gaps, clarifying roles and responsibilities across the supply chain, and embedding sustainability goals at every level of the organisation. To be able to hear more make sure to watch the recording of the webinar here.

What’s on the horizon for 2025… This year, some key priorities and areas of focus for the business will be on:

💡’Visions’ of a Future-Fit Society. We’re introducing a new focus: to spark inspiration, positive collaborations and diverse perspectives around bold visions for a Future-Fit Society. We’ll shortly be posting our own 2070 vision, asking you all to participate in co-creating that, so watch this space!

🌎 Expanding our ‘Local Chapters’ to foster even greater global collaboration. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited to expand these Local Chapters to new continents, with plans for rolling out presence in countries like Brazil and Singapore.

🤝 Sharing knowledge and building community. We’re focused on fostering greater engagement within the Changemaker Community and so will be looking to engage with members to share content more frequently on the platform, in order to foster diverse perspectives and meaningful discussions.
