Case Study | WHEB Group

Investing for Impact

As an impact fund manager, WHEB has incorporated elements of the Future-Fit methodology throughout its investment process.

In particular, the Future-Fit approach to Positive Pursuits helped in the design of the ‘Impact Engine’ which is used as part of the pre-investment process to understand a company’s positive impacts, and then monitor and report this impact to investors post-investment.

Sustainability is fundamentally only achievable at the level of the system as a whole. Most ESG frameworks do not address this critical dimension. The Future-Fit framework is premised on the idea that companies are just one part of a system and that progress at the company level needs to be put in this wider context.

We think that companies that use this framework will have a better understanding of what needs to be done and where strategically the company needs to go as regards sustainability.

I think the framework helps to prompt questions about the company and its place in the world which are profoundly helpful in understanding the strategic context facing a business.
