De Beers

De Beers is the world’s leading diamond company, with unrivalled expertise in the exploration, mining, sorting, valuing, selling and marketing of diamonds.

De Beers and its partners produce about a third of the world’s rough diamonds by value, employing more than 20,000 people globally. Its exploration activities and diamond mines are located in four countries – Botswana, Canada, Namibia and South Africa – whilst cutting, polishing and sales take place across the globe.

De Beers aims to safely and sustainably make the most of every carat it mines and sells. The company ensures it takes responsibility for the longer-term economic, social and environmental implications of the decisions it takes – not only for its own business, but for the broader societies in which it operates. De Beers strive to work with its partners in government to ensure that diamonds are transformed into economic wealth that improves the quality of life and wellbeing for all stakeholders touched by its business.

Future-Fit is part of De Beers’ plan to fulfil its promise of “Building Forever” – doing everything it can to be certain that its diamond-related activities leave a positive and lasting legacy.

De Beers was one of the first global companies to publicly support our work, and played a key role in co-developing and stress-testing the Future-Fit Business Benchmark.
